The city of Calgary – in Alberta, Canada – is Houston's sister city and home to an educated, diverse population with a strong energy economy. Ian Holloway is the Dean of Law at the University of Calgary and tells us about the Houston Calgary connection.

"Calgary is Canada's Houston," Dean Holloway said. "Like Houston, Calgary experienced the oil booms of the late 40's and early 70's, as well as the busts of the 80's and mid-2000's. Now, we have a growing economy built by mavericks and entrepreneurs who are working to diversify our interests among oil and gas, high-tech, finance, and we've even got a burgeoning film industry.

Holloway thinks there are opportunities for future collaboration between Houston and Calgary. "We build on the old oil and gas spirit," he said. "Leaders in law, business, health, the arts and education can partner together, spurring economic growth in both cities."
