The dreaded question of "What are you doing now?" can be a difficult one to answer, especially during holiday parties and networking events. Assistant Dean for Career and Industry Engagement Jamie Belinne at the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston discusses the best ways to answer that question.

“The holidays can be a fun season of parties and gatherings with friends and family, but if you are out of work, you may be tempted to skip these events to avoid awkward conversations about what you're doing right now.”

“Remember that people love to give advice and be helpful. If you share your goals with them, you'd be surprised how happy they are to share introductions or suggestions.”

“Networking is about building supportive relationships to help you grow, so go ahead and enjoy the parties.”
