A diverse workforce is about more than attracting and recruiting different types of employees. Professor Juan Madera with the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston tells us two simple steps can help increase the diversity of your workforce.

“Who is making hiring decisions is just as important as who is being hired. The first step in diversifying the workforce is to ensure that you attract a diverse applicant pool. Encourage more women and unrepresented minorities to apply to your organization to increase the probability of hiring a diverse workforce. ”

“Second, having a diverse set of employees who make hiring decisions is key. People want to work with people who are similar to them, so diversity in the hiring team is more likely to result in diversity in who is hired.”
