Severe weather this weekend, combined with strong sustained thunderstorms overnight, led to widespread flooding across Greater Houston. Officials throughout the day asked Houstonians to stay home until the water recedes. Many schools are closed, and many roads remain impassible.

On this edition of Houston Matters, we check in with News 88.7’s transportation reporter Gail Delaughter, who spoke this morning with Harris County Judge Ed Emmett at TranStar and has since been out and about in Houston. We also talk with News 88.7 energy and environment reporter Dave Fehling about the potential environmental impact of the storms and flooding. We get the latest weather information from the National Weather Service. We talk with a representative of Harris County Emergency Management. We hear highlights from Mayor Annise Parker’s Tuesday morning (5/26/15) press conference, and we hear first-hand accounts from a number of Houstonians.
