On a recent Houston Matters, we talked about our lives in traffic in our cars. In this edition, we look at Greater Houston through cyclists’ eyes. We discuss recent bicycle accidents and explore bicycle and motorcycle safety in Houston.
First, we discuss bicycles with Michael Payne, the Executive Director of Bike Houston, and Laura Spanjian, Sustainability Director for the City of Houston. Then, we discuss motorcycles with Keith Rovell, the Vice Chairman of the Texas Motorcycle Safety Coalition, and Deidrea Samuels, the public information officer with the Texas Department of Transportation.
Also: Itâs really started to warm up in Houston in recent days â a reminder that, if you havenât already done so, this might be a good time to plant. We talk with horticulture expert John Gardner about tending your garden. From what to plant to how to care for it, what grows in Houston that you want and what grows that you donât, to how to protect your plants from animals and the elements, we welcome any and all gardening questions.
And we discuss Dengue Fever – not the disease…the band. They performed recently in Houston in conjunction with the Asia Society. Houston Matters’ Michael Hagerty caught up with a couple band members to find out how they came to develop a band known for Cambodian rock.
