Beginning Sept. 1, the âMove Over/Slow Downâ law on Texas roads will apply to TxDOT crews, as well as police, emergency responders and tow trucks. In essence, the law states that if you see any of these folks along the side of the road, you need to move over or slow down.
Itâs one of those common sense laws â and driving habits â that we should all engage in, and yetÂ –Â letâs face it — many Houstonians donât. We all see poor driving behavior on our Houston highways and byways.
Host Craig Cohen talked with Trooper Richard Standifer from the Texas Department of Public SafetyÂ and KUHFâs transportation reporter Gail DeLaughter about some of the more basic rules of the road that seem too often to be disregardedÂ –Â from tailgating to changing lanes without signaling, to excessive speeding, to a general disregard for other drivers.
