The ongoing I-610 West Loop/I-69 Southwest Freeway project will bring more major road closures this weekend. The Texas Department of Transportation will close all north and southbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway at the I-610 West Loop beginning Friday at 8 p.m.

Several ramps will be closed off to facilitate construction, and further details about specific closures can be found here.

They will remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday, as crews continue demolition of the 610 West Loop northbound bridge over the Southwest Freeway.

TxDOT wrapped up the reconstruction of the southbound bridge last month. There is around a year left in the 6-year project costing $259 million, which aims to improve safety and mobility at of the state's busiest freeway intersections.

If crews don't finish their work this weekend, sections of the highway could be closed again next weekend.
