If you have plans to be on the roads this weekend, be prepared for extra traffic near the Galleria.

As part of the 610 West Loop/I-69 Southwest Freeway interchange project, TXDOT is closing all northbound and southbound lanes of I-69 SW at 610 West loop between Friday at 8 p.m. and Monday at 5 a.m. Motorists should expect delays and consider an alternate route.

The I-69/I-610 interchange is a major connection point of two extremely busy highways serving the Greater Houston area. The $259 million project will widen the connector ramps to two lanes and is slated to conclude in 2024.

Additional road closure information will be posted at Houston TranStar and at I-610 West Loop/ I-69 Southwest Freeway interchange project website. Follow the I-610 at I-69 project on Twitter for updates and more on this project.
