The makeshift memorial attracts visitors who come to mourn and remember the 22 people who were killed at the nearby shopping complex. Signs of support include flowers and stuffed animals, candles, crosses and religious items.

Clarissa Hernandez and her son, Ezra Magaooanes, handed out water and gave hugs at the memorial. “I’m just happy that people have been coming and people have been hugging each other — hugging us — to get some sadness or even all of it out of their hearts,” Magaooanes said.
