Jury selection begins Monday, with opening statements to follow Tuesday, in the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance trial in Harris County District Judge Robert Schaffer’s courtroom.

Opponents of the ordinance allege the city wrongly invalidated thousands of signatures on their petition for a referendum on the law. Last week, Judge Schaffer granted the plaintiff’s request for a jury trial.
