Former Houston Mayor Bob Lanier passed away Saturday at the age of 89. Affectionately known as “Mayor Bob,” Lanier served as mayor from 1992 to 1998.

He’s being remembered today as one of the most popular leaders in Houston’s history. Former President George H.W. Bush said Saturday Lanier’s leadership “helped lay the foundation” for a better city. Mayor Annise Parker called him a “strong, popular leader who left a lasting mark on this city.”

Bill White served as Mayor of Houston from 2004 to 2010. He joins us to share his memories of Lanier.
