HPD And Memorial Park Launch Urban Park Safety Program

HPD is increasing their presence in Memorial Park as part of the safety program

Memorial Park.

Houston Police Department and Memorial Park Conservancy launched an urban park safety program Monday, April 9, in Memorial Park.

The program is a pilot to prevent crime and decrease response times in the park.

HPD will use two off-road vehicles to monitor trails in the park and provide a faster response to hard-to-reach areas.

They're also installing security camera systems and a trail marker system that will help park users identify where they are and relay that information to 911 dispatchers.
