The Book of Whispers: A Father and Son’s Battle with Bipolar Disorder is a new book that includes several poems Jake wrote. It also includes a first-person account from Jake’s father, Mickey.

Maggie Martin recently sat down with Mickey Driver to talk about the challenges of caring for a loved one suffering from bipolar disorder.

Driver talks about discerning whether Jake’s issues early on were normal teenage growing pains or something else. And he talks about how he and his family dealt with Jake’s struggles in young adulthood.

He began the conversation by explaining the book’s title.
