It’s something many children contemplate – whether or not to go into the family business. Some Houstonians choose a completely different career path from their parents, while others follow in the previous generation’s footsteps.

We continue our family business series with two physicians from UTHealth. Dr. Herbert DuPont is a professor and director of the Center for Infectious Diseases at UT School of Public Health. His son, Dr. Drew DuPont, is an associate professor at UTHealth Medical School.

Dr. Herbert DuPont tells Houston Matters’ Maggie Martin he was one of the first in his family to go into medicine.
