Houston is now home to the nation’s first mobile stroke unit. The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) Medical School, in partnership with Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, unveiled the new vehicle earlier this month.

It’s an ambulance equipped with a scanner that allows the team on board to quickly assess whether a patient is having a stroke and provide treatment, thereby potentially saving millions of neurons and limiting the disability resulting from the stroke.
