Glorious Gulf of Mexico - Book CoverHouston-based writer and photographer Jesse Cancelmo is publishing a book that he hopes will inspire better understanding and appreciation of the Gulf of Mexico.

It’s called Glorious Gulf of Mexico: Life Below the Blue, and he joins us to talk about his work.

Cancelmo discusses what prompted him to do the book, why he thinks the Gulf of Mexico gets a bad rap in terms of its aquatic life — at least compared to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans — and he tries to clear up some misconceptions about the gulf.
