Houston Health Department vendor under FBI investigation, city says

The FBI confirmed agents were present at the department’s 8000 N. Stadium Drive building as of noon Wednesday.

FBI agents leave a Houston Health Department office on Feb. 16, 2022.

The FBI is searching the offices of the Houston Health Department as part of an investigation into a vendor, according to the agency and the city.

Seven agents were seen leaving the department’s 8000 N. Stadium Drive building around 12:20 Wednesday carrying five boxes containing what appeared to be documents, as well as a sixth larger box. The agency confirmed it was “conducting court authorized law enforcement activity,” but declined to provide details.

Mayor Sylvester Turner’s office directed inquiries to the health department, which confirmed the agents were conducting a search warrant.

“The investigation involves allegations concerning a Health Department marketing vendor and employee conduct,” the statement read. “The City of Houston is fully cooperating and does not comment on ongoing investigations.”

This is a developing story and will be updated.
