A man suspected of robbery was shot and killed in his car by police Monday after a shootout with officers in north Houston, police Chief Troy Finner said.
Police arrived to arrest the unidentified man on an aggravated robbery warrant about 10:45 a.m. in the 800 block of Oak West Drive, where they found the man sitting in his car in the driveway, according to police.
Right as they attempted to get out of their own vehicles, police say the man opened fire. Four officers returned fire, killing the man, Finner said. None of the officers were shot.
Body-worn camera footage was taken at the scene, but has not yet been reviewed, Finner said. The footage must be released within 30 days under recent HPD policy.
Multiple weapons were found at the scene, the chief added.
