Three teenagers were found dead inside a home near Crosby on Tuesday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Two of the teens were killed by an assailant and a third died by suicide, law enforcement officials believe.

A family member of at least one of the kids discovered the scene, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. Gonzalez, who gave an update during a press conference at the scene Tuesday evening, said two girls believed to be 17 and a boy believed to be 15 were found.

Gonzalez added that the teens — at least to of whom were related — were alone. They have not been identified at this time.

“We are told that the homeowner is possibly away on travel so we’re trying to figure all that out,” Gonzalez said. “At this point we are not in a position to positively identify anyone.”

Two of the teens were found at the scene and a third was found nearby. A gun was also found at the scene, though Gonzalez said it was unclear if the weapon was tied to the deaths.

The investigation is ongoing, Gonzalez said.
