On today’s Houston Matters, we examine a pair of developments involving industry and the environment in Houston. First, it’s been nearly a year since four workers died in a toxic gas leak at the DuPont chemical plant in La Porte. Last week, federal investigators presented their findings. Houston Matters’ Maggie Martin discusses the report with News 88.7 reporter Syeda Hasan. Then, News 88.7 energy and environment reporter Dave Fehling joins us to discuss new EPA standards which aim to further reduce emission levels for smog-causing ozone, and how they might impact Houston industries.

Also this hour: a conversation about the Houston ex-pat experience. Houston Matters’ Edel Howlin talks with area psychologist Dr. Eva Gortner, who specializes in helping Houstonians who moved here from overseas — or those who left Houston to work in another country and have now returned home — to adjust to life here.

Plus: The First Houston RT Readers and Writers Roundup takes place this weekend. It’s an opportunity for readers, bloggers, booksellers and librarians to gather and discuss writing and publishing. We learn more about the event from organizer Kathryn Falk.
