Listen
On this edition of Houston Matters, we discuss whether three thousand-plus multimillionaires in Houston represent a symptom of a growing problem, or a sign of continued economic success. (Or both).
Then: Some statistics can, at first blush, seem troubling. For instance, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Harris County has the eighth highest number of syphilis cases in the nation. But when you consider that Harris County is also the third most populous county in the country, the stat seems less alarming. Nevertheless, there are a lot of people in the county with sexually transmitted diseases. We'll discuss what efforts exist to bring the numbers down.
Also: We learn about a new, free online course at Rice University exploring how technology is changing medical diagnosis and treatment, as well as Houston medical school curriculum.
Plus: We hear from Marie LeNotre of Houston’s Culinary Institute LeNotre. She’s written a book about her family’s experiences in the world of food.
