Houston has been the nation’s top exporting metropolitan area since 2012, according to the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration. And, in 2014, Texas exports hit an all-time high of $289 billion. Of course, much of the state’s exports flow through the Houston Ship Channel. So what are we exporting?

Petroleum and coal products were the state’s biggest export, followed by computers and electronics and then by chemicals, the ITA says.
