Earlier this month, Mayor Annise Parker announced a new craft beer event coming to Houston this fall. And ‘DRAFT Magazine’ recently named a few Houston bars on its list of ‘America’s 100 Best Beer Bars‘. These are just some examples of how the craft beer industry is flourishing in Houston, and in Texas. Enthusiasts say that wasn’t always the case, but thanks to new laws passed during the last legislative session, the craft beer scene here is expected to keep growing.

We talk the Executive Director of the Texas Craft Brewers Guild about the rise of the craft beer industry in the state. And the founder of the Saint Arnold Brewing Company here in Houston joins us.

Then, we’ll turn our attention to the Texas wine industry. Wine Enthusiast Magazine recently named Texas Hill Country as a top wine travel destination for 2014. The Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association says wine and wine grapes bring $1.8 billion to the state of Texas. We’ll discuss whether wine in Texas is coming into its own on the international stage, and whether laws passed with the intent of encouraging growth in the industry actually work.
