Discounted ticket packs for the carnival at this year’s Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo are available through Feb. 25, 2023.

Going to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo can be expensive – even after you've purchased tickets for competitions and concerts and secured passes to the grounds at NRG Park.

Before the annual event kicks off Feb. 28, Houston-area residents can save some money by buying half-priced ticket packs for carnival attractions and food. They will be sold through Feb. 25 at

The $10 half-price carnival pack, which is a $50 value according to the rodeo, includes 22 tickets for rides and games, four refreshment coupons (which require refreshment purchases) and additional buy-one, get-one-free opportunities for one ride and one game. The $50 half-price pack, which has a value of $159.50, comes with 150 tickets for rides and games, nine refreshment coupons (which require purchases), three buy-one, get-one-free opportunities for games and two buy-one, get-one-free chances for rides.

Also being offered are carnival food cards – a $20 card for $30 worth of refreshments and a $50 card worth $75 in refreshments. They are valid only at select food and beverage stands in the carnival area and are not valid with other promotions, including the half-price carnival packs.

No refunds will be granted for carnival pack or food card purchases, according to the rodeo, which says they do not include admission to the grounds at NRG Park or to NRG Stadium, where concerts and rodeo performances will be held.

Grounds season passes also are being sold online for $50. They include admission to all public activities at NRG Park, NRG Center and NRG Arena, including the rodeo-opening barbecue contest from Feb. 23-25, but do not cover admission to the rodeo and concert inside NRG Stadium or to Rodeo Uncorked! events.
