A construction site fire that sparked in Spring Branch Friday is still burning on Tuesday morning, officials said.

The fire has been burning in a residential area of Spring Branch, and residents on neighboring streets reported low air quality and a constant smell of smoke.

The Houston Fire Department Monday said the burning piles consist of mulch and tree debris.

The Houston Fire Department fought the flames at the 2200 block of Hollister Road Monday before a mitigation company took over, KHOU reported. The department said the fire is contained, despite persistent flames continuing to burn overnight.

A shelter in place order has not been issued and surrounding schools are continuing as usual.

The Houston Health Department is monitoring air quality, which has reported a healthy range since yesterday.
