More than half of adults in the U.S. have gotten at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, as reported by NPR.
And about a third of all adults are fully vaccinated.
How close are we to the end of the pandemic?
How are COVID cases looking in the Greater Houston area, and around the country?
And what's the latest on vaccine efficacy? And variants?
As vaccines become more readily available in our area without an appointment, there’s also talk of a third shot for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
Today, a health economist and an infectious diseases expert join us to discuss and to answer listeners’ questions about vaccines, the pandemic and the healthcare system.
Guests are:
- Health economist at Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine
- An infectious disease epidemiologist and faculty member at UTHealth School of Public Health
Houston Public Media reporter Matt Harab also joins Ernie with local COVID news, including:
- The number of COVID-19 deaths in the region has risen to more than 4,000, according to Harris County Public Health.
