Cold Front Will Linger Through Weekend In Houston Area

The National Weather Service forecast calls for a low of about 50 degrees on Friday night.

The Houston area got its first Fall cold front Friday which will linger through the weekend with a significant drop in temperatures.

National Weather Service meteorologist Jimmy Fowler said the forecast calls for a low of about 50 degrees on Friday night.

“Saturday is looking like the highs will be getting into only the 60s for most of the area,” said Fowler, “but then on Sunday we start warming up a bit to around the mid 70s.”

Temperatures might also drop to the upper 50s in the Galveston area.

The cooler air brought some strong winds with gusts of around 20 miles an hour in the Hobby Airport area. Fowler said the winds will continue through the rest of the day.

He added while it's normal to have lower temperatures in the Houston region around this time of the year, these temperatures are about ten degrees lower than usual. Fowler said the cold front will probably be over by Monday and high temperatures will go back up to the 80s next week.
