National Weather Service Issues Freeze Watch For Harris County Until Tuesday Morning

Wind chills are expected to be in the low 20’s going into Tuesday morning.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Freeze Watch for Harris County in effect from midnight to 8:00 a.m. Tuesday. Temperatures will continue to drop throughout the day to below freezing levels overnight.

No precipitation is expected overnight, but areas where temperatures stay below 25 degrees for an extended period of time could experience a hard freeze. Wind chills are expected to be in the low 20’s going into Tuesday morning.

Experts recommend protecting people, pets, plants and pipes (the “Four Ps”) from the cold temperatures.

You should dress in layers, and check on any elderly family members or neighbors that may need assistance.

Bring pets inside and have plenty of food and water for them. It’s also a good idea to cover or bring in delicate plants to keep them from freezing.

Finally, cover exposed pipes to prevent freezing and breaks, and disconnect outdoor hoses.
