Efforts by a conservative Christian group to stop Drag Queen Storytime events at a Houston public library were stalled Thursday.
U.S. District Judge Lee H. Rosenthal wrote the group’s request for a temporary restraining order halting the events had “no basis” and denied the request.
The group sued Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Rhea Lawson, the head of the city’s libraries, earlier this month.
They alleged the event promoted "obscene speech" and violated the Constitution's Establishment clause.
