The Crosby Independent School District says it has laid off another 72 employees.

On Monday the school board terminated the contracts of 33 employees across the district. The latest layoffs, of at-will employees, bring the total to 105 people out of a job as Crosby ISD continues to grapple with a financial crisis.

In a statement, Superintendent Scott Davis called the layoffs a “sobering and humbling reality” but said the district will “keep pressing forward.”

“We knew these days were coming, and yet, no amount of emotional preparation could have fully prepared us for the most difficult and necessary step of informing our beloved employees that they would no longer be working for Crosby ISD,” Davis said.

The latest layoffs are the last in this reduction of force, Davis said.
