Flood Bonds Could Fund More than 200 Projects in Harris County

Early voting on the proposal begins Wednesday

The Harris County Flood Control District on Monday released a list of 237 flood control projects it would fund with the proposed $2.5 billion bond package that voters will decide on this month.
Projects include channel improvements, detention basins, home buyouts, studies of the Addicks and Barker reservoirs, and upgrades to both the county’s flood warning system and floodplain maps.
Early voting on the proposal begins Wednesday. Election day is August 25th.
A majority of Harris County voters say they will vote for the bonds, according to a survey run by the University of Houston.
