Stafford School Board Approves Police Patrols at Schools

The school district will have to pay for the officers, instead of the city

Leaders of the Stafford Municipal School District approved police patrols at schools. When students head back to school on August 15, 2018, there will be school resources officers on campus.

The city of Stafford cut funding for the officers last week, but at a meeting last night the school board further clarified there will be officers on campus.

The school district will have to pay for the officers, instead of the city. The school board and Stafford City Council will vote on a final budget in the coming weeks.

The announcement from Stafford MSD Superintendent Dr. Robert Bostic:

  • Stafford Municipal School District’s top priority is Safety & Security.
  • There will be Stafford Police Department School Resource Officers on campus for the 2018-19 school year, starting when school begins on Wednesday, August 15, 2018.
  • Stafford Municipal School District has an existing agreement with the City of Stafford, for School Resource Officers.
  • The Stafford MSD Board will work with the Stafford City Council on updating the aforementioned agreement.
  • The Stafford MSD Board and Stafford City Council will vote to approve the final 2018-19 SMSD Budget later this month.
