Gardening, generosity, redemption and delicious food all come together in the new bilingual children’s book Harvesting Friends/Cosechando amigos by Dr. Kathleeen Contreras.

Lupe loves to work with her mother in their salsa garden. Lupe notices that some of their tomatoes are missing and eventually comes upon a young boy from her school attempting to steal the tomatoes.  Lupe offers him a deal – share the labor and share the bounty. Pretty soon the entire neighborhood is participating in their new community garden, making new friends and enjoying delicious food together.
