The City of Tomball has canceled its Independence Day celebrations and fireworks.
Tomball officials said severe weather expected on July 4th prompted the decision.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a 70 percent possibility of severe thunderstorms in the Houston area.
Severe thunderstorms, heavy downpours and strong winds are forecast to move through the Houston region as early as Tuesday evening and last through the week.
Houston city officials have not yet announced whether its Freedom Over Texas concert and fireworks will be canceled.
