Houston Forecast: Showers And Thunderstorms Possible On Sunday Night Through Tuesday Morning

Rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue into Tuesday with locally heavy rainfall and isolated flooding possible

According to the National Weather Service Houston/Galveston a tropical disturbance in the west-central Gulf of Mexico will continue to bring rounds of showers and thunderstorms this evening through Tuesday.

Forecast widespread rainfall totals through Tuesday are expected to range from 1-3 inches north of I-10 to 3-6 inches south of I-10. Locally higher amounts may approach 8 inches during this time. The tropical disturbance has a low chance 20 percent of tropical cyclone development in the next 48 hours, but environmental conditions appear to be unfavorable for significant development.

Significant flooding is not expected with this system given the abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions across the region, but high rain rates may contribute to isolated flooding issues. While locally heavy rain will be possible anytime through Tuesday, the best window for this appears to be tonight through Tuesday morning.
