The City Of Houston To Challenge U.S. Census Bureau Population Estimate

The Bureau says Houston’s population is about 37,000 people less than the city’s estimate

Houston, TX

The city of Houston says it will challenge a recent population estimate made by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The Bureau says Houston’s population is about 37,000 people less than the city’s estimate.

Mayor Sylvester Turner says the discrepancy could force the city to lower its cash reserves, due to rules of the city’s revenue cap.

Turner’s office says revenues would have to drop by about 17 million dollars.
