AAA Estimates Over 3 Million Travelers Over Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial day is always a busy weekend for Texas travel

Traffic on I-10 flows under the Elysian Viaduct east of downtown Houston.

Triple A (AAA) estimates 3.4 million Texans will travel for Memorial Day this weekend.

They say they haven't seen that many people on the road for the holiday since 2005.

Daniel Armbruster is with AAA.

"We know that lower hotel, airline, and car rental costs are actually making up for the higher gas prices that we're seeing this year and so with a strong economy even with the higher gas prices people are still traveling," Armbruster explained.

The group says the worst time to hit the road tonight is between 4 and 6 p.m.
