
Meanwhile, in the wake of the shooting, many Houston-area and surrounding school districts have released statements discussing their plans to increase security measures.
Multiple school districts, including Houston ISD, Katy, Klein and Pasadena ISDs – just to name a few, are expanding the number of police officers they have at the schools as precautionary measures.
At Aldine ISD, metal detector checks will take place for all students at intermediate through high school campuses as an added layer of security. While over at Cy-Fair ISD, officials urge students not to wear trench coats or other heavy clothing that could conceal weapons.
At Bay City Junior High, students will not be allowed to bring backpacks starting this week through May 25.
