The new city council member for Houston's District K will be sworn in today.
Martha Castex-Tatum won the special election earlier this month to replace the late council member Larry Green, who died in March of an accidental drug overdose.
Castex-Tatum will serve the remainder of Green's term, which ends in 2019.
