Multiple local media outlets reported a Houston police officer has been suspended, after being arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence.

On Saturday night, Officer William Lacy, 46, was reportedly stopped by a DPS trooper on State Loop 494 in Montgomery County.

According to CBS media affiliate KHOU:

A DPS trooper pulled Lacy over for a traffic violation. DPS officials said he showed signs of intoxication.

Lacy was taken to Montgomery County Jail where a blood sample was drawn. He is being charged with 1st degree DWI.

The Houston Police Department says Lacy has been “relieved of duty” pending the outcome of an investigation.

Police union president Joe Gamaldi told the Houston Chronicle, “Since this occurred off duty and not in the course and scope of his duty as a police officer, we will not be representing him.”
