Castillo had been seen by family members on Tuesday, May 8, around 7 p.m. for the last time. She was talking on the phone at an apartment complex located at 6601 Harbor Town Drive, in southwest Houston.

Detective A. Vinogradov said during a news briefing held at HPD headquarters on Thursday morning there had been “a credible threat” to Castillo’s life.
