Texas City Commissioner Indicted On Two Counts of Manslaughter

Dee Ann Haney is also facing re-election

Dee Ann Haney

A Galveston County Grand Jury has indicted Texas City Commissioner Dee Ann Haney on two counts of manslaughter. Haney was involved in a crash last year that killed two men, 58-year-old Duoc Van Le and his son, 32-year old Hong Phuc Le.

The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement the charges against Haney can result in probation or up to twenty years in prison. Haney is accused of having driven after consuming muscle relaxers and a sedative and failing to maintain her lane. The District Attorney’s office says Haney is currently free on bond.

Meanwhile, Haney is facing re-election in the May 5, 2018 uniform election. She faces two opponents.
