The Harris County Appraisal District (HCAD) and the Office of Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Ann Harris Bennett are offering county residents an opportunity to learn more about property taxes, including how to protest appraised values, through a series of workshops that will be held until mid-May.
The workshops –the first of which took place last Saturday, March 24— provide information on property property taxes –including how they are calculated—, the process to protest appraised values and concepts such as exemptions, payment plans and which are the taxing entities in Harris County.
The Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office Property Tax Division maintains more than 1.6 million tax accounts and collects property taxes for 73 taxing entities, including Harris County.
