Rodeo Brings Thousands Of Temporary Jobs To Houston

The jobs range from concessions to security

About 7,200 people will be working temporary jobs at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for the next three weeks. The jobs are in concessions, ticket booths, security and guest services to name just a few.

Many of the positions are filled by staffing companies. One of them is Houston-based Lane Staffing, which recruits bartenders for the concerts and rodeo events at NRG Stadium.

The company’s president, Carla Lane, said the workers come from all walks of life.

“We have everybody from students to retirees to those who are looking for additional income as part of their recovery from Harvey,” Lane said. “We have weekend opportunities for those people who have full-time jobs.”

Lane said they’ve filled all the bartending jobs but still have some backup positions available.
