Houston Flight Slides Off Runway, After Being Diverted Twice

No injuries were reported, and United Airlines apologized to customers and provided hotel accommodations

A Houston flight slid off a runway at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport, in Wisconsin.

The plane left Bush International airport, at 9:09 p.m., Thursday night. It was diverted from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, and even ended up making two unscheduled landings, due to severe weather.

United flight 878, IAH to MSP, diverted to Green Bay due to ice in Minneapolis. Well, didn’t work out as planned. We slid off the runway in Green Bay due to ice. Nobody hurt, but makes for a very long day.

In an e-mailed statement to News 88.7, United said:

“Severe weather caused UA878, operating from Houston to Minneapolis, to divert to Madison, WI. The flight took off from Madison; however, severe weather again caused a diversion to Green Bay, WI where it left the runway. There were no injuries and we have arranged transport for passengers from the aircraft to the airport terminal. We apologize to our customers and have provided hotel accommodations.”
