Spring Teens Charged With Capital Murder

The two suspects are booked in the Harris County jail

Two teens face capital murder charges after a fatal shooting in a Spring (TX) neighborhood, KHOU-Channel 11 reported Thursday.

Investigators with the Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) have filed capital murder charges against Julian Xavier Velarde, 17 yeras-old, and Roderick Gerome Alexander, also 17 years-old, in the shooting death of Diego Andrade, 18 years-old.

According to the HCSO, the shooting happened on Tuesday, January 30th 2018.

Surveillance video released on the day of the murder shows both Velarde and Alexander running away from the scene.

According to the investigation, Andrade was shot inside a vehicle on the 4400 block of Adonis Drive, in north Harris County.

After the shooting the other two teens fled on foot. There was a third passenger in the vehicle at the time of the shooting who is now being treated as a witness.

The investigation by the HCSO revealed that robbery was the motive for the shooting.

Velarde and Alexander are currently booked in the Harris County jail.

The case is pending in the 262nd District Court and no bond has been set.
