Houston just experienced a rare bout of freezing weather that more or less shut the city down for two days. Is this some strange, freak occurrence — or is it less surprising than we think?

You often hear the old saying that goes something like, “If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait five minutes.” But is that saying unique to us? No. No it’s not.

State climatologist John Nielsen-Gammon talks about the climate in Texas and in Greater Houston. And he discusses whether our weather is more predictable than other places.
