On Thursday’s Houston Matters: The Texas population grew by nearly 400,000 people in the past year. That's according to new numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau. Former state demographer Steve Murdock weighs in on the opportunities and challenges this growth presents for Texas.

Also this hour: We continue our look back at the top stories of 2017 by examining the year in education new with Laura Isensee.
