
Houston will host on Saturday an event to discover athletes who could become members of the U.S. Paralympic Team.
The event, which is called ‘Gateway to Gold' and will be held at the George R. Brown (GRB) Convention Center, is organized by the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority in conjunction with U.S. Paralympics.
U.S. Paralympics is part of the United States Olympic Committee.
The goal of the event is discovering athletes with physical and visual impairments who have athletic talent and could compete as members of the USA Paralympic Team in future Games.
The event's participants will take part in specific tests and evaluations pertaining to sports such as track, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis and power soccer.
The City of Houston's Parks and Recreation Department and TIRR Memorial Hermann are also collaborating in organizing the event.
‘Gateway to Gold' will be held at the GRB's Hall E from 9:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
