Evacuations Are In Place But Some Do Not Want To Leave

Seabrook is in a voluntary evacuation area but that doesn’t mean everyone will be leaving.

Some coastal communities in the Houston Galveston region are under mandatory evacuation orders.

But most are just doing voluntary evacuations.

Mary Robbins lives in Seabrook and says she doesn't plan to leave.

"we don't think there's any danger from high wind. And unless we get tired of being stuck in the house with too much rain, we'll stick it out here"

Seabrook sits on Galveston Bay near Kemah.

Robbins says her house was built after Hurricane Ike and meets current standards on withstanding storm surge and high winds.
